Since opening in September of 2006, the Cajun Gourmet has enjoyed tremendous success with its refreshingly original delicatessen menu and outstanding catering service.

Well known in the area as a local restaurateur, owner Sharon Lowe brings her Cajun roots from New Orleans back to Burke County where she has previously enjoyed successful runs with the Pepperloaf Deli and Bird Dog Café in the past. We now offer a "New" menu after 5:00pm, Monday - Saturday until close, dinner entreés served with a "Cajun Flair". Call for additional nightly specials that are not on the menu for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Sharon & Dan Lowe: The Cajun Gourmet

Once a neighborhood favorite here in Burke County, the Bird Dog Café was closed by Sharon Lowe after the tragedy of 9/11 and its hard impact on the local economy. Sharon decided to return to her roots in New Orleans as a result. However, after her family home in St. Bernard's Parish was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, Lowe decided to come back to Burke County and return to her life-long passion for cooking.
